Mini PCs generally come with multiple video transmission interfaces such as VGA, HDMI, DP, etc. Each interface varies in shape and function. When purchasing a mini PC, users select models equipped with different interfaces based on their actual needs. Currently, the commonly used video interfaces on mini PCs are VGA and HDMI. OAI will give you a brief introduction to the concept and differences between these two interfaces.
1. Interface Definition
VGA (Video Graphics Array): VGA is the computer display standard for analog signals. The VGA interface is an interface that adopts the VGA video transmission standard.
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface): HDMI is a digital video/audio interface technology that can transmit both audio and image signals simultaneously.
2. Differences
In terms of interface appearance, the VGA interface is a 15-pin trapezoidal port, divided into three rows, with five holes in each row. The HDMI interface can be divided into three types based on size specifications: standard, mini, and micro.
In terms of transmission signals, the VGA interface transmits analog signals, which undergo one digital/analog conversion and one analog/digital conversion and can only transmit video signals. A separate audio cable is required to transmit audio signals. The HDMI interface is a digital signal, which can transmit high-definition video, support 4K resolution and digital audio, and the sound and picture can be output in high definition at the same time.
In terms of anti-interference, the anti-interference performance of the VGA interface is not as good as that of the HDMI interface. Under long-distance and high-frequency resolution connections, the effect of using the HDMI interface is much better than that of VGA.
With the characteristics of simultaneous transmission of audio and video signals and higher resolution, the HDMI interface is recognized by more and more mini PC manufacturers. In contrast, although the VGA interface is older, there are still many monitors, projectors, and other devices equipped with VGA interfaces that are still in use. Therefore, OAI mini PCs of different models will be equipped with different video interfaces to better meet customers' different connection needs.
