How to Upgrade Industrial Tablet PCs from Windows 10 to Windows 11

August 27, 2025     Instructions, Support

Microsoft has officially announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. For businesses relying on industrial tablet PCs, this transition is crucial. As a manufacturer specializing in industrial computing solutions, OAI emphasizes that upgrading to Windows 11 is not just a system update—it is an essential step to maintain security, ensure software compatibility, and maximize the performance of your industrial tablet PCs.

Before upgrading, OAI strongly recommends backing up important data and verifying that all critical applications and drivers are compatible with Windows 11 to prevent disruptions in daily operations.

Upgrade Methods for Industrial Tablet PCs

1. Upgrade via Windows Update
Open Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, click Check for updates.
If Windows 11 is available for your industrial tablet PC, select Download and install.
Accept the license terms and follow the prompts. The device will restart multiple times during the process.

2. Upgrade with Windows 11 Installation Assistant
Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from Microsoft’s official website.
Run the tool, confirm that your industrial tablet PC meets the hardware requirements, and click Accept and install.
Restart when prompted to complete the upgrade.

3. Upgrade using Installation Media (USB or ISO)
Use Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool to create bootable installation media.
Insert the USB drive or mount the ISO on your industrial tablet PC and run setup.exe.
Follow the step-by-step instructions to complete the upgrade.

Why Some Industrial Tablet PCs May Not Be Eligible
Not all industrial tablet PCs meet Windows 11’s strict hardware requirements. Common limitations include:

1. Unsupported processors that do not meet Windows 11 architecture requirements.

2. Missing TPM 2.0 module, required for enhanced security.

3. Insufficient memory or storage, such as less than 4GB RAM or 64GB storage.

4. Driver or peripheral incompatibility, especially with industrial devices like barcode scanners, serial devices, or specialized sensors.

In such cases, OAI recommends considering either Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 10 or upgrading to OAI’s latest industrial tablet PCs, which are engineered for Windows 11 and built to handle demanding industrial environments.

OAI is committed to helping businesses transition seamlessly into the Windows 11 era. OAI's team can provide expert guidance and recommend the most suitable industrial tablet PCs tailored to your operational needs.
