How to Maintain Our Mini Desktop PC on a Daily Basis?

October 31, 2024     Blog

Mini desktop PCs, like people, have a lifespan, but through our daily maintenance, we can extend the service life of our mini desktop PCs to a certain extent. Today, OAI will share with you how to maintain mini desktop PCs on a daily basis to extend their service life as much as possible and reduce damage.

The working environment temperature of the mini desktop PC should be between 5 degrees and 35 degrees. During daily use, they should be kept away from direct sunlight and placed in a dry place to prevent moisture from causing circuit short circuits.

Stay away from high-power electrical appliances such as audio equipment and motors. High-power electrical appliances are prone to generate large electromagnetic interference. If the mini desktop PC is often placed in an environment with a strong magnetic field, it may cause data loss on the hard disk and even interfere with the normal operation of the mini desktop PC.

Use a safe power socket, and the power supply should meet the standard of 100V~240V (50/60Hz). Do not unplug the power plug at will when the mini desktop PC is running. Unplugging the power plug is prone to static electricity, which will cause signal voltage mismatch and cause damage to the mini desktop PC power supply or motherboard.

Avoid frequent power on and off. Powering on immediately after a power outage will cause a sudden large surge current in the power supply, which may damage the components in the power supply and other parts of the mini desktop PC. Of course, in order to reduce the number of power on and off, it is not recommended to keep the mini desktop PC in standby mode for a long time. It is best to keep the mini desktop PC in shutdown mode when not in use, and then turn it on when it is needed.

As the use time increases, dust will accumulate inside the mini desktop computer, affecting its heat dissipation. When the parts are overheated, they will automatically reduce the working frequency to protect their own hardware from overheating and burning. We will intuitively feel that the mini desktop PC will become slower or even stuck, so OAI recommends cleaning the dust in the mini desktop PC every six months. Of course, due to the complex internal circuits of the mini desktop PC, the step is recommended to be completed under the guidance of professional engineers or the OAI support team to avoid unnecessary damage to the mini desktop PC.
