The Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival are the three major traditional festivals in China. The Dragon Boat Festival is also called the Duanyang Festival or the Chongwu Festival. It also has many other names, such as the Noon Day Festival, the Chongwu Festival, the May Festival, etc.

Regarding the origin and significance of the Dragon Boat Festival, there are many versions. The most widely circulated version is that the Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate the ancient Chinese patriotic poet Qu Yuan. Other versions include commemorating Wu Zixu or the Eastern Han Dynasty filial daughter Cao E, entre autres.
