The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Chongwu Festival, Tianzhong Festival, etc.,is a folk festival that combines worshipping gods and ancestors, praying for blessings and warding off evil spirits, celebrating entertainment and eating. It arrives as scheduled on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. In order to celebrate this important and grand traditional festival, OAI has arranged the following holidays:

Dragon Boat Festival Holiday: May 31 to June 2, 2025

In the hot and grand festival in summer, we have many interesting customs and activities. Among them, dragon boat racing is an activity with a long history, which is a multi-person collective paddling competition. Dragon boat racing is divided into several sections, such as inviting dragons, offering sacrifices to dragon gods, swimming dragons and collecting dragons. Before the dragon boat race, a grand sacrificial ceremony is generally held, first inviting dragons and offering sacrifices to gods. In addition, inserting wormwood and wrapping rice dumplings are also two important customs, both of which are for the commemoration of Qu Yuan and the good wishes for peace and health.
